Rides & Attractions Safety Coordinator?

Under the direction of the Amusement Park Supervisor, the Rides & Attractions Safety Coordinator position is responsible for multiple park operational areas such as customer service, concessions, cash handling, ride maintenance/inspections, playground maintenance/inspections, and puppet theater productions.

This is a highly visible City wide facility and program with focus on the day to day safety operations for the rides and attractions at Happy Hollow Park & Zoo.

This position regularly works weekends, evenings, and holidays, during all climatic conditions as assigned.

Rides & Attractions Safety Coordinator job duties include:

  • Prepare reports, evaluations, memorandums, and correspondences
  • Initiate, maintain, and develop effective working relationships with ground maintenance, park rangers, zoo staff, Public Works, ride & playground manufacturers and state inspectors to foster good relations and partnerships to ensure consistent guest safety.
  • Initiate, establish, and implement policies and procedures as they relate to Ride and Playground Safety regulations. Ensure compliance with California Department of Occupational Safety and Health (CAL DOSH) mandated (scheduled and unannounced) rides safety inspections, annual qualified safety inspection (QSI), records audit of rides maintenance and training. Provide oversight of operational procedures and create and update policies including ride operations manuals, emergency, and evacuation procedures, tag out/lock out procedures, certification sheets and training aids to ensure compliance with multiple ride manufacturers, state guidelines (CAL DOSH) and ASTM F-24 industry standards. Completion of records management function for mechanical, preventative, corrective, and modification maintenance.
  • Direct, monitor and approve expenditures as allocated in the budget. Prepare and implement part time staff budgets for Rides and Attractions team. Recommend and help develop operating budget revenue projections and expenditures and monitors spending for personal and non-personal services. Supervise and assign Part Time staff, plan and coordinate training. Create work schedules and monitor work performance.?Recommend employment, retention, promotion, demotion, and completes performance evaluations. Work with other co-workers, department staff and City departments to insure safer visitor and staff conditions.
